BASANAGOUDA PATIL CONGRATULATES
NOTED KARNADA
POET KAMBAR
The
Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Basnagouda R.Patil, today
congratulated noted Kannada Poet, Playwright and Author Shri Chandrasekar
Kambar who was selected for the prestigious
Kalidas award for the year 2002-2003.
In a congratulatory
message, Shri Patil said that the contribution by Shri Kambar
in the field of Kannada literature is invaluable. His poetry and
other his literary writings received universal appreciation for
their simplicity. Further Shri Patil said that the Kannada plays
written by Shri Kambar and the feature films and documentaries
produced by him were an instant success which secured him several
awards. Shri Kambar was the Chairman of the Karnatak Natak
Academy and also the National School of Drama.
Shri
Patil said that over the years, with the advent of the modern
westernised novels, there has been a
perceptible qualitative and quantitative decline in literary works
and the attainment of Shri Kambar will help boost literary efforts
among the new generation which was getting alienated from its
own literary and cultural heritage under the influence of the
western culture.
He said
that Literary scholars and intellectuals have a key role to play
in moulding the younger generation through their works which could
highlight some of the contemporary issues like social justice
and empowerment of down trodden so that the youth of the present
day could have a better understanding of our socio-cultural ethos.
