Rourkela Steel Plant
(RSP) of the Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has crossed
all previous records and achieved growth rate of 19 per cent,
15 per cent and 14 per cent respectively in production of hot
metal (800938 tonnes), continuous cast slabs (705406 tonnes),
saleable steel (721432 tonnes), during the first half of this
fiscal. The plant has kept intact the positive growth set at the
end of 2001.
The steel plant
has registered a growth in despatches of HR plates and sheets
(40 per cent), CRNO (38 per cent), HR coils (27 per cent), Tin
plates (14 per cent) and CR coils and strips (10 per cent). Best
ever despatches were recorded in HR casts, CRNO and saleable steel.
