INDIA, MALDIVES FOR
STRONGER COOPERATION IN AREA OF PUBLISHING
India and Maldives
will explore the possibilities of widening cooperation in the
area of book publishing. This was discussed during a meeting of
visiting delegation from the Education Ministry of Maldives with
Director, Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting,
Government of India, here today. The leader of the Maldives delegation,
Mr. Hassan Nizam commended the wide range of books being published
by the Publications Division and added that his country is keenly
looking forward for increased cooperation in the area of publishing.
The eight member delegation visited the Book Gallery housed in
the Publications Division and discussed the intricacies on the
production and language aspects of publications.
During the meeting,
Shri P. S. Bhatnagar, Director, Publications Division emphasized
that the books and journals brought out by this Division under
the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting symbolized the culture
and heritage of not only India but also the South Asian fraternity.
He welcomed more cooperation and people to people level contacts
through authors, poets and publishers for better understanding
between India and her neighbouring countries, particularly those
of the South Asian region.
