BSNL’S CELL ONE MOBILE SERVICES LAUNCHED IN INDORE


Inaugurating Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited’s "CellOne" mobile services in Indore, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Communications&IT, Shri Pramod Mahajan said that ‘CellOne’ mobile service is the only countrywide service in this country. Upto the year 2010, there will be 10 crores mobile phone connections. Madhya Pradesh State will be provided with Public Village Telephone by December, 2003. Shri Mahajan spoke from ‘CellOne" mobile with Video Conferencing to Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Vice President of India in New Delhi. Shri Mahajan said that new service would have its reach from Kohima to Kandla and Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Although "CellOne" came late to its service, it will be cheaper and quality-wise better. He said cellphone was considered an object of surprise on National Highways and Railway main trunk-line. BSNL will compete in this field with international standard and universal price standard.

Presiding over the special function at Indore, Minister of State for Communications & IT, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan said that India had been placed in prestigious position in the World Telecom market. All telecom services are becoming necessity for human life. Our farmers in villages are getting world market rates sitting at their home.

Speaking on this occasion, Shri Prithipal Singh, CMD, BSNL said "CellOne" had the largest network in the country with a presence in all 17 Telecom Circles, making it the largest number by providing 40 lakhs mobile connections in a year. We were committed for better and cheaper mobile services with our zeal and zest. He said we would make "CellOne" a "SellOne" soon.
