EMIGRATION
FEE REVISED AND CERTAIN NEW FEES INTRODUCED
The emigration fee
to be paid by an emigrant while seeking clearance to take employment
abroad has been doubled. Each worker will have now to pay Rs.200/-.
The government has also introduced a new fee of Rs.100/- for all
those seeking clearance for going abroad for non-employment purposes
like tourism, business, study etc. This fee would also be applicable
to registered agents seeking clearance.
The fee for registration
and renewal of license by Recruiting Agents engaged in sending
Indian workers overseas have also been revised. The new rate will
be Rs.2000/- as against the existing Rs.500/-. A permission fee
of Rs.2,000/- to be paid by the project exporters/foreign employers
while applying for permission to deploy workers abroad, has been
introduced.
The new fee structure
will come into effect from 1st November 2002, and is
likely to generate over six crore rupees as additional revenue
to the government which has amended the Emigration Rules. 1983
for this purpose.
