SINGLE WINDOW TECHNOLOGY INFORMATION CENTRE FOR FARMERS LAUNCHED


A Single-window delivery system for providing products, services and technologies to the farmers/entrepreneurs was lunched at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute premises hare today. Union Agriculture Minister, Shri Ajit Singh inaugurated the Agricultural Technology Information Centre (ATIC) through which farmers would be able to get seeds of improved varieties, plant saplings, farm advisory services, soil & water testing, bio-fertilizer and agricultural implement at one place. Farm literature such as production technology for Rabi and Kharif crops, Kisan Marg Darshika, production technology of fruits and vegetable and agro-based enterprises would also be available at the center.

The Centre also has a plant clinic to facilitate diagnosis of plant diseases and pests and prescribing remedial measures. It also has an information museum providing glimpses of technology developed by the Institute besides a small library for farmers. ATIC has a help-line for the farmers through telephone no. (011) 5724670. Farmers can seek farm related information through this help line.

Addressing farmers who had gathered to witness the launch of this system, Shri Ajit Singh said that farmers should improve productivity through application of new technology and should diversify from the traditional rice and wheat to fruits and vegetables which has a growing market. He also urged the farmers to go for application of micronutrients to increase production. He said that Krishi Vigyan Kendras have been set up at district levels to help farmers in their quest for farm related information.
