RSP’s H-1 PRODUCTION UP 14 PER CENT

The Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has recorded 14 per cent growth in production of saleable steel during the first half of this fiscal. Its hot metal and continuous cast slabs production have grown by 19 per cent and 15 per cent respectively. The positive trend set by the plant since November 2001 continued with the steel plant scaling new peaks of performance in production and despatch front during the last six months. It has produced 800938 tonnes of hot metal, 705406 tonnes of continuous cast slabs and 721432 tonnes of saleable steel breaking all previous records of production for the first six months.

It has registered a growth of 40%, 38%, 27%, 14% and 10% in the despatch of HR plates and seats, CRNO, HR coils, tin plates and CR coils and strips. By producing 126123 tonnes of hot metal in the month of September, RSP surpassed a twenty year old record set in the year 1976. The best September performance since inception was also achieved in the production of sinter from sinter plant-II. Continuous cast slabs CCM-I and II and CRNO. Another highlight was the despatch of ERW pipes which broke the record set way back in the year 1964.
