DRAFT OF PATENTS RULES
NOTIFIED - SUGGESTIONS AND COMMENTS INVITED

NOTE
The Department
of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and
Industry, has notified a draft of the patents rules
which have been published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary,
Part II, Section III, Sub-Section (ii) vide S.O. No. 1018 (E)
dated 20/9/2002. The notification containing the said rules is
available on sale with the Department of Publications and is also
on the website of the Office of the Controller General of Patents,
Designs & Trademarks at www.ipindia.nic.in.
The draft has been published with a view
to consolidating patents rules and also to make provisions required
consequent to the amendment to the Patents Act, 1970 by the Patents
(Amendment) Act, 2002. The draft rules have been published with
a view to informing all persons likely to be affected thereby
and to invite suggestions/comments, which will also be taken into
consideration before finalisation and notification. The normal
period for furnishing suggestions/comments being 30 days, the
last date for receipt will be 5th November, 2002.
