RAIDS ON PESTICIDE DEALERS

On the basis of complaints received by the Union Ministry of Agriculture that spurious pesticides are being marketed in a major way by certain unscrupulous dealers in Delhi, officials of the Plant Protection Division of the Ministry carried out raids in the Indira Market area (Old Subzi Mandi area) in the weekend. 18 samples of pesticides were collected from several pesticide dealers which were sent for testing.

The Ministry has decided to take stringent action against the dealers whose samples are found spurious and misbranded. It has also decided to go for regular surprise raids to check the growing menace of spurious pesticides, finding their way into the market.
