RAILWAY MINISTER ORDERS HIGH LEVEL INQUIRY INTO STAMPEDE INCIDENT AT CHARBAGH RAILWAY STATION


Minister of Railways, Shri Nitish Kumar has today ordered an inquiry into the stampede incident in Charbagh Railway Station, Lucknow on 28th of last month.

The terms of reference of the high level inquiry committee of Ministry of Railways include: to ascertain circumstances and causes for the incident which occurred at Charbagh Railway Station, on the date leading to death and injuries to some persons; the relief and medical aid provided to the injured persons; efforts made to control the crowd both inside and outside the station; measures to ensure so that such incidents do not occur in future and smooth movement of passengers and trains are ensured. The members of the inquiry committee are Director General, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Additional Member (Traffic), Additional Member (Safety & Coaching) of Railway Board.

The committee has been asked to submit the report within seven days.
