DOCTORS SHOULD SERVE IN RURAL AREAS: RAMESH BAIS

The Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Shri Ramesh Bais has urged doctors to change their mindset and go to rural areas for serving the masses so that the problem of 'quacks' can be handled effectively and anti-social elements will no longer be able to play havoc with people's health.

Shri Ramesh Bais was presiding over a seminar organized by Delhi Medical Council on the occasion of 'National Anti-Quackery Day' here today. The Minister expressed his concern over the problem of fake doctors and quacks who are playing with the lives of the innocent and illiterate rural people by meting out wrong treatment. It is not only unlawful but also puts public helath in jeopardy, the Minister said.

She Ramesh Bais said that medical profession is a noble occupation and it is a service to humanity. For patients, a doctor is like a messenger of God, and he should measure up to their expectations. The reports of some or the other hapless people losing their eyes, limb or life due to wrong treatment are very disturbing. It is not only people who suffer due to wrong treatment but the whole humanity and society has to pay price for this, the Minister said.
