INDIA’S
FOREIGN TRADE: APRIL-AUGUST, 2002-2003
India’s exports during
April-August, 2002-2003 are valued at US $ 19766.26 million which
is 13.37% higher than the level of US $ 17435.88 million during
April- August, 2001-2002. In rupee terms, the exports were Rs.96550.42
crores, during April- August, 2002-2003 which is 17.82% higher
than the value of exports during April- August, 2001-2002.
Exports during
August, 2002 are valued at US $ 3885.61 million which is 6.55%
higher than the level of US $ 3646.85 million during August, 2001.
In rupee terms, the exports were Rs. 18878.30 crores, which is
9.84% higher than the value of exports during August, 2001.
India’s imports
during April- August, 2002-2003 are valued at US $ 22468.68 million
representing an increase of 1.76% over the level of imports valued
at US $ 22080.33 million in April-August, 2001-2002.
Oil imports during
April- August, 2002-2003 are valued at US $ 6873.03 million which
is 5.29% higher than oil imports valued at US $ 6527.86 million
in the corresponding period of last year. Non-oil imports during
April-August, 2002-2003 are estimated at US $ 15595.65 million
which is 0.28% higher than the level of such imports valued at
US $ 15552.47million in April- August, 2001-2002.
Imports during
August, 2002 are valued at US $ 4627.83 million registering an
increase of 5.84% over the level of imports valued at US $ 4372.33
million in August, 2001. In Rupee terms the imports increased
by 5.75% during April- August, 2002-2003.
The trade deficit
for April- August, 2002-2003 is estimated at US $ 2702.42 million
which is lower than the deficit at US $ 4644.45 million during
April- August, 2001-2002.
