PRESIDENT TO REVIEW NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY PASSING OUT PARADE AND PRESENT COLOURS TO THE COAST GUARD


The President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam leaves on a visit to Pune and Daman this evening. During his visit, the President will review the passing out parade, tomorrow, of the 103rd National Defence Academy (NDA) Course at Khadakwasla near Pune. Dr. Kalam’s engagements in Pune tomorrow include interaction with the students of Bharati Vidyapeeth. The President will also inaugurate the Plant Molecular and Genetic Engineering Laboratory at the Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) at Manjari near Pune. This will be followed by a visit to the Cattle Farm of the Bharatiya Agro Industries Federation (BAIF) and the Technology, Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) Project and to the Wagholi Educational and Rehabilitation Centre. This Center was started to educate needy children affected by the Latur earthquake of 1993. It also has rehabilitated and provides free education to orphans from rural Maharashtra.

On Sunday at Daman, the President will present "Colours" to the Indian Coast Guard. The Coast Guard is currently celebrating its Silver Jubilee Year.

The President returns to New Delhi on Sunday.
