GROUP OF MINISTERS ON
WTO
The government has
constituted a Group of Ministers consisting of Minister of Finance
and Company Affairs, Minister of Law & Justice, Minister of
Commerce & Industry, Minister of Agriculture and Minister
of External Affairs for finalising the strategy to be followed
during the negotiations on agriculture in the World Trade Organisation
(WTO) and to take appropriate decisions from time to time within
the overall approach approved by the Cabinet Committee on WTO
matters. In the negotiations on agriculture which are scheduled
to be concluded by 1 January, 2005, the government has presented
proposals to safeguard the interests of Indian farmers. This was
stated by Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State for Commerce
& Industry, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha today.
