There are 40,412 inhabited villages in Maharashtra (1991 census). Of these, 40,351 villages have been declared as electrified. The remaining 61 un-electrified villages have not been found feasible for electrification, as per Central Electricity Authority (CEA).

This information was given by Smt. Jayawanti Mehta, Minister of State for Power in a written reply to a question by Shri Namdeo Harbaji Diwathe in Lok Sabha today.
