PULL BACK OF TROOPS

RAJYA SABHA

Intelligence inputs suggest that Pakistan has moved some of its troops back to peace time locations that are in close proximity of the operational locations. However, the strategic reserves of Pakistan Army continue to be located in the operational location. The pace of pulling back of the Armed Forces also indicates that Pakistan intends to undertake the process in a phased manner.

The strategic relocation of troops by India is being carried out in a gradual manner without impairing the capacity to respond aggressively and decisively to any emergency and without lowering the vigil in Jammu and Kashmir.

This information was given by the Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes in a written reply to Shri P Prabhakar Reddy in Rajya Sabha today.
