NEW POLICY REGARDING NPK/PHOSPHATIC MANUFACTURERS

LOK SABHA

As per the existing policy, concessions for various grades of NPK fertilizers are computed on the basis of rates of concession announced from time to time for DAP and MOP. Tariff Commission (TC) has submitted a report recommending computation of concession for NPK fertilizers based on their normative cost of production. The exact implication of proposed pricing policy for manufacturers producing different grades of complex fertilizers would be known after the Government introduced revised policy based on TC recommendations.

References have been received from the Chief Minister and Minister for Major Industries, Commerce and Export Promotion of Andhra Pradesh against the implementation of TC Report.

The Government is in the process of announcing new pricing policy for various grades of complexes based on the cost price study of T.C. after considering various representations including the views received from fertilizer industry and of the various Departments/TC during inter-ministerial consultations.

This information was given by Shri Tapan Sikdar, Minister of state for Chemicals and Fertilizers, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today.
