ROAD TRANSPORT MINISTER ADDRESSES THE BORDER ROADS CONFERENCE


Major General (retd) BC Khanduri, the Union Minister for State for Road Transport and Highways has appreciated the role played by the Border Road task forces. Addressing the Annual Chief Engineers’ Conference of Border Road Organisation (BRO) here today, he said that BRO must avail the concessions given in the form of customs duty on import of modern road construction machinery which Government of India has extended to the agencies currently involved in construction of National Highways projects a part of Prime Minister’s Golden Quadrilateral Project. Gen Khanduri expressed confidence that during the course of conference the apex body of the organisation will deliberate upon modernization and explore feasibilities to broaden the sphere of works.

The Minister also released the Border Roads technical Magazine Oonchi Sadaken on the occasion.

On the first day of the five-day Chief Engineers’ Conference the issues related to keep pace with the latest development in technique and technology and to transform the Organisation into a modern multifaceted, transnational, modern construction organisation were discussed thread bare.
