"JOURNEY
TO THE HIMALAYA" AT PRAGATI MAIDAN
A photo exhibition
depicting various moods of Himalayas and life around today was
inaugurated by Minister of Tourism and Culture, Shri Jagmohan
at Pragati Maidan.
Various facets
of Himalayas captured by well-known photographer, Ashok Dilwali
conveys that Himalaya is unique in many sense. Snow capped mountains
reflecting golden rays of morning sun and lakes absorbing siren
moon light around hills spell bound the visitors. Organised by
Department of Tourism near Gate No. 2, Pragati Maidan, the exhibition
has more than 100 blowups and entries of photo contests held earlier
by Department of Tourism. Outstanding glimpses of Himalayas painted
by eminent painters during recently held camp at Uttaranchal are
also on display in the exhibition. A multi-media presentation
on adventure and Himalayan Tourism is also being run for the visitors
at the venue.
Inaugurating
the exhibition, Shri Jagmohan said that number of initiatives
were being taken to upgrade infrastructure in Himalayas and to
make it an ideal eco destination in the world. During the last
two months, he himself has undertaken several tours to identify
potential tourism destinations to for this purposes. Culture and
Tourism hub is being set up at Almora, Uttaranchal, tourism circuit
connecting prominent pilgrimage places is being planned. New tourism
projects in Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh and other Himalayan States
are being financed by the Centre, he added.
