MAULANA AZAD’S 114TH
BIRTH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED
Union Minister
of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya has
said that Maulana Azad was one of the most towering figures on
the Indian political scene during the freedom struggle. His eventful
life was packed with outstanding achievements in diverse fields.
He was an uncompromising patriot, a great freedom fighter, and
an unyielding upholder of secular and democratic values with world
vision. Maulana Azad deserves to be introduced afresh to the modern
generation of Indians. This was stated by Dr. Jatiya while addressing
the 114th Birth Anniversary celebrations of Maulana
Azad, organised by Maulana Azad Education Foundation of Ministry
of Social Justice and Empowerment, here today. He said. that Maulana
Azad Education Foundation was established on the occasion of Maulana
Azad’s birth centenary for the educational upliftment of weaker
sections of the minorities.
On this occasion,
Dr. Jatiya announced that establishment of the Maulana Azad Social
Harmony Centre and a Vocational Training Centre for Women was
on the final stage. He also announced that an In-service Teachers’
Training Programme for College Teachers and Maulana Azad Scholarship
Scheme for meritorious students from the minorities will be introduced
soon at the national level.
Ms. Najma Heptullah,
Deputy Chairperson, Rajya Sabha presided over the celebrations
and Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Shri Shahnawaz Hussain
also addressed the function.
