RECOVERY OF DUES BY POWER AND COAL RELATED ENTERPRISES

The total outstanding dues (principal and surcharge – indicative) payable as on 30.9.2001 by the State Electricity Boards (SEBs) to the power Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) amounted to Rs.26,757.77 crore and to the Coal Atomic Energy and Railways CPSEs amounted to Rs.15,094.86 crore.

This information was given in the Rajya Sabha today by Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises in a written reply to a question by Shri P.K.Maheshwari.

The Minister added that the Government has approved the scheme of one time settlement of outstanding dues of the SEBs payable to the CPSEs of the Ministry of Power, Coal, Atomic Energy and Railways, which essentially seeks to convert SEBs dues into bonds to be floated by the respective State Governments.
