JAGMOHAN PROPOSES STATE-WISE TOURISM HUB


Minister of Tourism and Culture, Shri Jagmohan has proposed Tourism Hub in each State to project culture, heritage, handicrafts and local life. Ajanta Elora will be first such hub. Besides, improving overall ambiance of the product road connectivity, public amenities and other tourism related facilities will be created at these hub with the joint effort of that State and Centre. Shri Jagmohan said that Haridwar to Valley of Flower would be next such joint venture. He called upon the industry to come forward and pool its resources also to boost tourim.

Addressing a Seminar Integrated Tourism Development: Synergising Northern Region States organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, here today. Shri Jagmohan said that new tourism policy proposes development of tourism in totality. It underlines the role of the States, Surface Transport, Civil Aviation and other infrastructure sectors. The Government in future would take up new projects in totality and ensure integrated development not in bits and pieces. He said that Centre would not provide funds to the projects not planned in integrated fashion and time of completion. Before taking up any project overall infrastructure upgradation including the allocation of slums, road connectivity, drinking water facility and other amenities have to be included as part of Tourism Project. Shri Jagmohan also informed that Government is giving greater focus to the East for marketing Indian Tourism Products. He called upon the Northern States to prepare joint action plan to promote Northern Region as an attractive tourist destination.
