SMT. SWARAJ CONDOLES KAIFI AZMI'S DEATH
The Information
and Broadcasting Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj has expressed deep
sorrow on the death of renowned Urdu poet Kaifi Azmi, who passed
away in Mumbai, this morning. Conveying her condolences to the bereaved
family of the poet, in a message, Smt. Swaraj said that Kaifi Azmi
belonged to the progressive writers’ movement. He was a poet of
the masses who felt the pain and agony of the downtrodden, sensitized
the society about their plight and motivated people to work for
their upliftment. Kaifi Azmi wrote songs and dialogues for popular
Hindi films and his Urdu poetry enriched Hindi film songs. His literary
works would continue to motivate the people, Smt. Swaraj said.
