STATES ADVISED TO HAVE PROPER REPRESENTATION OF MINORITIES IN
POLICE FORCES
Centre has advised all the State
Governments to give special consideration to minorities in the recruitment
to the State Police Forces and armed battalions in order to give
proper representation to minorities. This was stated by the Social
Justice & Empowerment Minister Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya in a
written reply in the Lok Sabha. He said that Central Police Forces
have also been asked to ensure representation of minorities by making
their candidate aware of the employment opportunities and recruitment
programmes. Dr. Jatiya said that instructions have also been issued
making it mandatory to have a member belonging to minority community
in Selection Committees/Boards constituted for recruitment to 10
or more vacancies in Group ‘C’ or Group ‘D’ in Central Government
and Public Sector Undertaking. Dr. Jatiya said that in order to
help candidates of minority communities for competing successfully
in services, Social Justice Ministry is implementing a scheme for
pre-examination coaching classes for Weaker Sections including Minorities.
He said that a similar coaching scheme is being implemented by the
University Grants Commission for Weaker Sections as well as amongst
educationally Backward Minority Communities In Universities and
