STORAGE FACILITY IN WEST BENGAL
The
total storage capacity in West Bengal available with Food Corporation
of India as on April 1, 2002 is 10.44 lakh tonnes (Owned &
Hired /Covered & CAP).
Under
the Annual Plan 2002-2003, the Central Warehousing Corporation
proposes to construct 0.20 lakh MT, storage capacity at Panihati
in West Bengal. The cost of construction including the cost of
land for this centre is approximately Rs. 7.5 crore.
FCI
has invited tenders for creation of a capacity of 10,000 MT, at
Midnapore in West Bengal under `Build Own and Operate’ (BOO) scheme
through private participation in development and operation of
conventional godowns.
Hoogly
Centre in West Bengal has also been identified for creation of
bulk foodgrains storage and transport facilities under `BOO’ scheme.

Pradhan in reply to a question of Shri Sanat Kumar Mandal.
