Rs.330 CRORE EARMARKED FOR ASSISTANCE TO STATES FOR DEVELOPMENT
OF EXPORT INFRASTRUCTURE IN 2002-03
An amount of Rs.330 crore has been earmarked
for 2002-03, for the scheme called "Assistance to States for Infrastructure
Development for Exports (ASIDE)". 80% of the total fund will be
provided to the State Governments and the remaining 20% of the
fund will remain with Department of Commerce for funding Central
Sector and Inter-State projects. Out of the 80% funds allocated
to State Governments, 50% of the funds will be provided to the
States on the basis of their export performance and remaining
50% on the basis of rate of growth of the export over the previous
year. The salient features of ASIDE Scheme include: (i) Involvement
of the State Governments in the development of infrastructure
for export promotion; and (ii) Merger of four earlier existing
schemes into this scheme. The Scheme has been implemented since
2001-02 and the projects under state components and central components
are to be implemented after they are considered and approved by
the competent authority.
