INCOME CEILING FOR POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME LINKED WITH
CONSUMER PRICE INDEX FOR INDUSTRIAL WORKERS
Centre has decided to link the income ceiling
for Centrally sponsored Scheme of Post-Matric Scholarships to
students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes with
the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. The Ministry
of Social Justice and Empowerment which is operating the scheme
has decided to revise the linkage of income ceiling with Consumer
Price Index once in every two years. The new linkage has been
made effective from April 1st , this year. Accordingly, the existing
income ceiling as linked with the Consumer Price Index for Industrial
Workers for October 2001 has been revised as follows : Income
ceiling limit of parents/ Scholarship eligibility Guardians per
annum towards maintenance allowance and fees Pre-revised Revised
Rs.45,760/- Rs.49,000/- Full maintenance allowance and full fees
Rs.60,965/- Rs.65,290/- i) Full maintenance allowance and full
fees for courses in Group 'A' i. half maintenance allowance and
full fees for courses in Group'B,C,D&E Group 'A' courses include
medical, engineering including degree level courses in Indian
medicine and Graduate and Post Graduate Courses in agriculture
and veterinary sciences. Group "B' Courses include Diploma & comparable
courses in medicine, engineering, technology, architecture, commercial
pilot licence, hotel management etc. Group 'C' courses include
certificate courses in engineering, technology, architecture,
medicine, agriculture & allied disciplines, pharmacy, veterinary
science, Sanitary Inspectors course for rural services, degree
& post-graduate diploma courses in teachers training, library
science, music, fine arts, law, arts and commerce subjects. Group
'D' courses include general courses upto graduate level (2nd year
and onwards) and Group E includes Class XI and XII in 10+2 system,
intermediate courses and first year of general courses upto graduate
level.
