DSP FULFILS PRODUCTION TARGET
The
Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) of the Steel Authority of India
Ltd. (SAIL) has fulfilled the saleable steel target during the
year 2001-02. The plant has produced 15.27 lakh tonnes against
a target of 15.1 lakh tonnes during the year.
A new
Finishing Mill was planned to
be taken up during the later part of 9th Plan, depending
upon techno-economic viability and market condition. However,
due to the sluggish market conditions and adverse financial position
of SAIL, the same could not be taken up and will now be considered
during the 10th Plan.
This
information was given by the Minister
for Steel Shri B.K.Tripathy in a written reply in the Lok Sabha
today.
