APPOINTMENT OF NOTARY PUBLIC

The Law Ministry appointed 237 advocates as Notary Public during 2001-2002 under the Notaries Act, 1952. So far, 2065 Notaries have been appointed by the Central Government in various parts of the country.

As a result of inquiries into the misconduct of Notaries following complaints of malpractice, the Central Government cancelled the certificate of practice of one Notary during 2001.

The Notary Cell in the Department of Legal Affairs, which administers the Notaries Act, 1952, also renewed certificate of practice to various notaries.
