National Institute of Biologicals
(NIB) will act as Central Drugs Laboratory in respect of Oral
Polio Vaccine, Blood Grouping reagents and diagnostic kits for
HIV, Hepatitis B Surface antigen and Hepatitis C Virus for which
they have adequate facilities for testing.
NIB, Noida was set up by the
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as an autonomous institute
to act as National Central Laboratory to test quality of drugs
of biological origin, such as vaccines, blood products, Immunodiagnostic
kits, blood group reagents, manufactured in the country or imported
into India. In view of this rule 3 A of the Drugs and Cosmetics
Rules, 1945 has been amended by the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare.
