PRIME MINISTER CONDOLES THE DEATH OF M.S. OBEROI

The Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee has condoled the demise this morning of Shri Manmohan Singh Oberoi, former Member of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The Prime Minister recalled that Shri Oberoi was also well known as the founder of the East India Hotel Company that runs the prestigious Oberoi chain of hotels in India and in many other countries.

The hotels that he founded set a new standard of excellence and professionalism in India. They also planted the flag of Indian hoteliers in other countries. At the same time, in his long life he found the time to participate in public life serving three terms in Parliament.

The Prime Minister has extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family.
