CONFERENCE OF CHIEF EXECUTIVES OF PUBLIC ENTERPRISES
The Department of Public Enterprises and the
Standing Conference of Public Enterprises are jointly organising
the Eighth Conference of Chief Executives of Central Public Enterprises
tomorrow. The Conference provides an opportunity for interaction
among Chief Executives of Public Enterprises, the decision-making
authorities in the administrative Ministries of the Government
and others concerned. The Conference assumes great importance
as it is taking place at a time when the role and functions of
public sector enterprises in the national economy is being redefined.
This Conference is expected to bring into sharper focus various
issues, which are crucial to the growth and sustainability of
the CPEs.
The Conference will be inaugurated by Shri Krishan
Kant, Vice President of India. Shri Manohar Joshi, Minister of
Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria,
Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises
will also address the Conference.
Major topics to be discussed are : Corporate
Governance and Empowerment of Public Enterprises, Disinvestment
and Privatisation of Public Enterprises : Issues & Strategies,
and Counselling, Retraining and Redeployment of Rationalised Employees
of CPSEs.
MOUs Awards for Excellence in Performance and
SCOPE Awards to the CMDs of the Award willing PSEs will also be
presented during the Conference. The Charter of SCOPE Centre for
Excellence on Corporate Governance will be launched on this occasion.
