32 MINES CONFERRED WITH NATIONAL MINE SAFETY AWARDS
The Vice President give away 32 National Safety awards comprising 16 winners and an equal number of runners for the year 2000 here today. The awards were given for safety performance in two categories, viz., longest accident free period and lowest injury frequency rate during the last three consecutive years ending with the contest year. All mines in the country have been divided into seven different groups depending upon the type of mineral and nature of working. 346 mines participated in the contest out of which the following mines were selected for the awards :
