NOTICES FOR CONSIDERATION OF BILLS

    The Legislative Department in the Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs has given notices to the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passing of four Bills during the current Budget Session that are pending in the Parliament.

    The Constitution (85th Amendment) Bill, 1999 relating to 33 per cent reservations of seats in the Lok Sabha (House of the People) and State Legislative Assemblies, and the Indian Succession (Amendment) Bill, 2001 providing for dispensing with anomalies in the inheritance to Christian women, as passed by the Rajya Sabha, have been pending in the Lok Sabha. The two other Bills pending in the Rajya Sabha are, the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Bill, 2000 and the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill, 1999, that need to be considered and passed.

    Besides, the Legislative Department, following a Cabinet decision, has authorised the Election Commission of India to place the supply orders for as many number of Electronic Voting Machines as possible within the allocated fund of Rs.142.29 crore in the current financial year 2001-2002 with M/s Bharat Electronics Ltd., Bangalore and Electronics Corporation of India Ltd., Hyderabad.
