RAKSHA MANAK BHAWAN INAUGURATED

    A new permanent complex 'RAKSHA MANAK BHAWAN' for Defence Standardisation Cell (DSC) was inaugurated today at Badarpur, Delhi.

    The DSC came into being in 1984 as part of Directorate of Standardisation. The permanent complex for DSC in the place made available by DGQA will help in consolidating the Defence Standardisation activities.

    DSC, Delhi is the largest of the cells and has been performing a key role in the field of Standardisation. It plays a vital role in carrying out liaison with various local and outstation related agencies to speed up the Standardisation and Codification activities. While the object of Standardisation is to monitor and co-ordinate the entire Defence Standardisation activity in terms of variety reduction and entry control, the object of Codification is to codify its complete Defence inventory using its standardised codification system, maintain the database of codified
Defence inventory and finally publish its Defence equipment catalogues for use. For printing of
Standardisation and Codification documents, the distribution to various authorities/units in Defence Services, the Cell is equipped with a full-fledged printing workshops and reprographic units, as well as other state of the art duplicators and associated equipment. This Cell is also equipped with state of the art Computer Network like LAN and WAN, in order to achieve higher output. The Cell has recently been connected to Directorate of Standardisation on Video &
Audio Conferencing too.

    The Directorate in all has 15 Cells and Detachments located all over India, which help the process of Standardisation and Codification.
