    The Election Commission of India has informed that it has no information of any person who has been convicted and who attracts the provisions of Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, has contested as a candidate in the election.

    This information was given by the Union Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley in a written reply to a question from S/Shri Ram Jethmalani and Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’ in the Rajya Sabha today.
