STEPS TO BOOST TOURISM
The
Department of Tourism is considering following steps to boost tourism in the country
- The refocus on marketing in South East Asia, North Asia and Australia.
- More aggressive support for generating domestic tourism.
- Strategy for marketing in other short-haul destinations.
- Use of interest as a cost-effective media.
- To arrange special "fam" tours for foreign media and trade to get a first hand
idea of peaceful conditions in India.
- Restructuring of overseas offices.
- India Tourist Offices abroad to interact with foreign media to create confidence in
international travel.
- To participate in travel and tourism fairs and other events in important markets.
- To promote and market Indias tourism products through joint and cooperative
efforts with the private sector.
