BOOK RELEASED BY DEFENCE MINISTERThe Defence Minister Shri George Fernandes released a book "Himalayan Ki Shrinkhalaon Mein Mere Trekking Abhiyan" written by Shri Girish Chandra Maithani an official of the Controller General of Defence Accounts organisation here today. The Defence Minister lauded the efforts of Shri Maithani for leading Trekking Expeditions in Himalayan ranges since 1987. He said that the efforts of Shri Maithani will contribute in promoting interest in adventurous activities among the fellow-staff members and the book "Himalayan Ki Shrinkhalaon Mein Mere Trekking Abhiyan" will be viewed as an outstanding achievement in this field. Shri Fernandes while blessing the extra-ordinary efforts by Shri Girish Chandra Maithani wished him all success in future.
Earlier welcoming the Defence Minister and the invitees, Shri Arun Sedwal, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts mentioned that Shri Girish Chandra Maithani is an outstanding achiever in his office which otherwise deals with payment and audit functions relating to the Ministry of Defence, Services Headquarters and Inter Services Organisations. He said that last expedition to "Punchkedar Trek" was successfully undertaken in June, 2001 by Shri Maithani and he has narrated his trekking experiences in this book.
The function was attended by the Secretary (Defence Finance) Shri M Kumaraswami and senior officials and other selected dignitaries.
