    The Railways have taken steps for promoting tourism by running special trains/coaches as per demand, luxury trains like Palace on Wheels, Royal Orient Express, providing Indrail Passes, reservation quota, facilitation centres for the foreign tourists etc. A new company , Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd.(IRCTC), has also been set up by the Railways in 1999 for providing value added tourism packages.

    This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways , Shri O.Rajagopal in a written reply to a question by Prof. Ummareddy Venkateswarlu in Lok Sabha today.
