LICENSES TO LAW GRADUATES

The Bar Council of India has informed that it is not aware of any instance of issuing licences by the State Bar Councils to the law graduates for starting practice in courts without verifying their certificates. If the enrolling authority, the State Bar Council, has any doubt about the genuineness of the certificate produced by an applicant, the Sate Bar Council writes to the University concerned to enquire about the genuineness of the certificate. In case any instance of issuance of licence to a person without proper certificate is brought to the notice of the Bar Council of India, it will take steps for removal of the name of such a person from the roll of advocates.

This information was given by the Union Minister of Law, Justice and Company Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitley in a written reply to a question from Shri V.V. Rao in the Lok Sabha today.
