QRs ON EXPORT OF CERTAIN FOODGRAINS AND PACKAGING RESTRICTIONS FOR EXPORT OF PULSES REMOVED

PRESS NOTE

    The Ministry of Commerce & Industry (DGFT) has issued a Notification No.49 (RE-2001)/1997-2002 dated 5th March, 2002 under which:

  1. Quantitative Restrictions (QRs) on export of wheat & wheat products, grain & flour of barley, maize, bajra, ragi and jowar and butter have been removed.
  2. The packaging restrictions of 5kg. for export of pulses has also been removed, thus making export of pulses free without any restrictions.
  3. The conditions of registration of contract with APEDA (Agriculture & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) for export of non-basmati rice has also been removed.

    Apart from above notification, government has taken following decisions:

  1. Continuance of QRs on export of onions on enhanced quota upto 7 lakh tonnes per annum (2 lakh tonnes from kharif and 5 lakh tonnes from rabi crop).
  2. Creation of a system to monitor the export of commodities freed for exports.
