VSP’S FEBRUARY SALES TURNOVER UP 14 PER CENT

   Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), a public sector undertaking of the Steel Ministry, with a sales turnover of Rs. 3501 crore during the 11 months of this fiscal, has crossed its 2001-02 sales turnover of Rs.3436 crore. This has shown a growth of 19 per cent over the sales turnover of Rs.2933 crore during the corresponding 11 months last year. Its Bar Mill and MMSM have produced 640,627 tonnes and 696,109 tonnes during this period surpassing their last year’s total performance.

    VSP produced 3.15 Million tonnes of Hot Metal, 2.77 Million tonnes of Liquid Steel and 2.46 Million tonnes of Saleable Steel during April 2001-February 2002 registering growth of 10 per cent, 5 per cent and 5 per cent respectively over the same period last year.

    The sales turnover of Rs.380 crore in February 2002 is the best for any February month since inception and shows a growth of 14 per cent over February 2001. All the production units of the plant have achieved their best performance for any February month since inception. VSP has also registered best techno-economic indices in Coke Rate, BF productivity, Specific Energy Consumption and Labour productivity during these 11 months.
