In a message to the bereaved family, Shri Mahajan said: "Shri Balayogi’s untimely demise has shattered all of us. His death is a personal loss to me, as we worked and interacted very closely for the last four years almost on a daily basis. His simplicity and frankness appealed to all of us. He gave a new vision to the role of Speaker in coalition politics. He was brilliant and patient in sorting out contentious issues in Parliament. All of us respect him for his objectivity and neutrality in conducting Parliamentary business. His rise in National politics will always be a motivation for the aspiring youth of the country. I pray to God to give his family the necessary strength to deal with this tragedy".
