LAUNCHING OF WEBSITE OF CSMRS

In order to create awareness amongst engineers/scientists involved in investigation, design construction and safety evaluation of existing civil engineering structures with particular reference to earthquake proofing and retrofitting of civil engineering structures, Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS)under the Ministry of Water Resources brought out the website with the help of National Informatics Centre.

The website was launched here today by Shri B. N. Navalawala Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources in the presence of members of the Governing Body of the Institute and distinguished guests. The website can be accessed at http://csmrs.nic.in. The site is proposed to be updated regularly. Any suggestions/feed back relating to geo-technical issues can be sent to csmrs@hub.nic.in.

The CSMRS is a premier Institute in the country dealing with field and laboratory investigations, basic and problem oriented applied research in geo-mechanics, concrete technology, construction materials and associated environmental issues, having direct bearing on the development of irrigation and power projects in the country and functions as an adviser and consultant in these areas for various organisations/departments in India and neighbouring countries. CSMRS has already successfully completed geo-mechanical and construction materials investigations for more than 1500 medium and major dams in India and neighbouring countries besides completing foundation characterisation for bridges, multistoreyed buildings, thermal and nuclear power stations, off-shore structures etc. and thus CSMRS is playing its vital role in geo-mechanical and construction materials characterisation admirably for the last five decades.
