ZINC
AND LEAD PRODUCTION EXCEED TARGET DURING MAY 2002
Zinc production during
the month of May exceeded target by 1340 tonnes. The production
during the month was 19180 tonnes whereas the target for the month
was 17840 tonnes. Hindustan Zinc Limited produced 2959 tonnes
of lead during the month against the target of 2525 tonnes.
The production
of Aluminium during the month was 56886 tonnes whereas the target
was 57594 tonnes. The production of aluminium by Hindustan Aluminium
Company Limited during the month was 23809 tonnes against the
target of 23266 tonnes. Nalco exported 129548 tonnes of Alumina
and 9680 tonnes of Aluminium during the month of May 2002.
The production
of copper during May 2002 was 28485 tonnes against the target
of 33097 tonnes. The production of gold was 180.287 kgs. whereas
the target was 214.723 kgs.
The
total value of mineral production covering metalliferrous and
industrial minerals but excluding fuel minerals, minor minerals
and atomic minerals during the month is estimated to be Rs. 608
crores against Rs. 496 crores during May 2001.
During the month
of April 2002 a total of 258.5 sq. kms. of Large Scale Mapping,
4.785 sq. kms. of Detailed Mapping and 8249.25 mts. of drilling
were carried out by geological survey of India against the monthly
targets of 170.78 sq. kms., 4.274 sq. kms. and 8600.40 mt. respectively.
1383 sq. kms of Specialised Thematic Mapping was carried out against
the monthly target of 1606.50 sq. kms.
