REVISED VARIABLE DEARNESS ALLOWANCE FOR WORKERS ENGAGED IN RAILWAYS FROM APRIL


Workers engaged in the Railways in loading and unloading, goodsheds and in ashpit cleaning are to receive higher Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) with effect from first April, 2002. According to the Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) the new rates of VDA calculated on six monthly average of Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers reaching 2302.31 (Base 1960 = 100) as on December 31, 2001 would be as under in ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ areas:

Therefore, the minimum rate of wages showing the basic and Variable Dearness Allowance payable w.e.f. 1-04-2002 to the workers employed in the Railways in loading and unloading, goodsheds and in ashpit cleaning shall be as under :-

‘B’ Rs. 33.00 + Rs. 26.54 = Rs.59.54
