RD MINISTRY ISSUED FRESH GUIDELINES FOR THE
BENEFIT OF HILL/SMALLER STATES

Minister Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu informed Shri N.D Tewari, Chief
Minister of Uttranchal that new guidelines have been issued
for the benefit of hill/smaller States to enable them to utilize
the funds allotted under various schemes of Rural Development
Ministry. Shri Naidu said that he alongwith his staff visited
all the States, held meetings with Rural Development staff of
the States to discuss various schemes of the Ministry and reasons
of less utilization of funds. For proper utilization of the
funds new guidelines have been issued, he added. Now new Self
Help Groups (SHGs) can be formed with 5 members.
Shri Naidu
urged Shri Tewari to speed up utlization of funds to enable the
Ministry to release more/further instalment of funds. He said
that more funds are expected under Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sarak
Yojana.
Shri Tewari
said that development works can be speeded up in case Uttranchal
is given some leniency in forest covered areas Uttranchal has
47 per cent of forest area.
