MANAGING COMMITTEE OF THE ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY FUND MEETS


The Minister of State for Defence Shri Chaman Lal Gupta has assured the Armed Forces that nation shall ensure the well being of next of kin of those who made supreme sacrifice. Speaking at the seventh meeting of the Managing Committee of the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund here today Shri Gupta reassured the serving personnel on border and ex-servicemen that the entire nation is with them. He underlined the need to work out more viable welfare schemes in the future. The Minister said that quite a few welfare measures are being instituted through the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund by Kendriya Sainik Board. To facilitate the new welfare schemes there is need to enhance the collection of Armed Forces Flag Day Fund he said. The Minister sought active indulgence of Service Chiefs to introduce new rehabilitation measures and to make the existing ones more effective.

Shri Gupta said that the Armed Forces Flag Day affords an ideal opportunity to us to identify more closely with our Armed Forces. The Minister urged all concerned to put in methods by which augmented donations are sought from public, industry and businesses.

The Minister of State of Defence informed the meeting that he has written to the Chief Ministers and the head of the Union Territories to give wide publicity to the Armed Forces Flag Day and send out an appeal to the citizens.

Armed Forces Flag Day is celebrated on 7th December every year.
