SUGAR QUOTA FOR AUGUST, SEPTEMBER 2002
Government has released 9.75 lakh tonnes of sugar
as quota for indigenous freesale each for the months of August
and September 2002. With the levy quota of 2.16 lakh tonnes released
for each of these two months, the total availability of sugar
would be 11.91 lakh tonnes each for two months.
The free sale quotas are meant only for internal
consumption and with enough stocks of sugar in hand, Government
would not hesitate in releasing further substantial quantities
additionally in case of requirement so dictates.
