STEEL EXPORT BY VSP
Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) of
the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL), a public sector undertaking
of the Ministry of Steel has exported 73,324 tonnes of steel during
the first quarter of this fiscal. The plant exported 2,27,800
tonnes of steel during the year 2001-02. VSP has a target to export
1,70,000 tonnes of steel during the year 2002-03.
During 2001-02, the unit produced
31.2 lakh tonnes of hot metal, 27.3 lakh tonnes of crude steel,
24.11 lakh tonnes of saleable steel and 3.63 lakh tonnes of pig
iron for sale. Projection for the year 2002-03 in these sectors
are 34 lakh, 30 lakh, 26.75 lakh and 3.74 lakh tonnes respectively.
